Things to do in Los Cristianos

About Los Cristianos

There are many things to do in Los Cristianos, Tenerife. Los Cristianos is a coastal town with a population of just over 21,000 situated on the south of the island. Located in between the Guaza mountain and Playa de las Americas. The town centre is around the Los Cristianos bay which offers an array of boat trips and water sports.

Unlike its neighbouring town of Playa de las Americas, it offers a rich culture and historic town centre. Once you head 15-20 minutes walk inland you will find more modern all inclusive hotels like Paradise Park and some up market gold crown accommodation such as the Suites at the Mirage and The Suites at Beverly Heights built into the Guaza mountain.

Los Cristianos offers a fantastic holiday experience, with two beaches, Playa Los Cristianos and Playa Las Vistas. The town boasts a huge selection of bars and restaurants and offers easy access to all excursions in and around Los Cristianos.

Things to do in Los Cristianos Harbour

Los Cristianos offer several attractions. Within walking distance from anywhere in Los Cristianos, you will find easy access to the harbour which hosts some fantastic excursions. A 3 hour trip on the viking boat is highly recommended for families to do a bit of whale watching whilst being kept entertained with a viking show on board. Drinks, lunch, face painting for the kids and whale watching is included. Los Cristianos harbour is also home to several water sports activities including jet ski safaris, fly fish, parascending and the banana boat. Fishing trips can also be taken from the harbour with 4 hour or 8 hour excursions aiming to catch yellow fin tuna and swordfish. All excursions should be pre-arranged to get the days and times you want. There is nothing worse than leaving things to the last minute and being disappointed at the end of your holiday.

Tenerife is home to amazing marine life such as pilot whales, dolphins, sea turtles and stingrays. Our beautiful marine life can be found here all year round. Going out on a boat trip or snorkelling with sea turtles is one of the best things to do in Los Cristianos!

Boat Trips

There are a few boat trips that depart from Los Cristianos harbour, the Peter Pan pirate ship and the Viking boat are the best trips for families with young children. If you are holidaying as a couple or family with older children you will have a better selection from another nearby harbour, Puerto Colon. In our opinion the best boat trips are the Skyline 1 sailing yacht and the Skyline Cruiser, German owned, these trips offer the highest lever of customer service, luxury experience and professionalism.

Although we can not technically class this as one of the best things to do in Los Cristianos. The Skyline company do offer free transfers to and from your door, whether you are staying in a hotel or private apartment. Free food and drinks on board, 30 minutes for snorkelling and takes small groups only of a maximum 11 people. You are only a 5 minute drive to Puerto Colon harbour.

Snorkelling & Diving

The best spots for snorkelling and diving are just off the coast of Los Cristianos near the caves of Palm Mar. This is only accessible by dive companies or kayaks. Here you can encounter huge sea turtles, stingrays and also possible sighting of dolphins. This is available for snorkelers or certified divers only.

Things to do in Los Cristianos in the evening

Unlike the nightlife in it´s neighbouring town of Playa de las Americas which is aimed more at the 18 – 30´s  crowd, Los Cristianos is more suited to over 30´s and families. It offers cocktail bars, sports bars and for a fun packed night you can easily find many establishments offering entertainment including karaoke nights and professional singers.

One of the most popular bars in Los Cristianos for evening entertainment is Harvey’s Bar. Harvey´s Bar is open 7 days a week from 9am until late. Food can be ordered from 9am until 10pm. Harvey´s Bar is famous for serving the best British pub grub in Los Cristianos at extremely competitive prices.

All major sporting and pay per view events are shown on 5 screens and a large projector screen. Nightly entertainment starts at 9pm with their resident compere Mark Clarke. Tenerife’s top cabaret acts every night start between 10:30pm and 11pm. On Wednesday afternoons from 4pm until 6pm during the winter months they have the SHADES featuring Cy Benson, James & Mark Clarke, who are exclusive to Harvey’s Bar. You won’t see this brilliant trio anywhere else on the island.

A fully air conditioned bar with daily drinks and food specials. If you are heading out on the evenings then we think a night at Harvey´s Bar comes high in our list of things to do in Los Cristianos.

Check out their Facebook page where they advertise which daily acts are performing.

Steak Houses

Many restaurants serve steak but with them all competing on price, it can bring down the quality of the meat. This being said, even the best steak houses offer great prices. The 2 main well known chains of steak houses in Tenerife are Taurus and Aberdeen Steak House. Both have a fantastic reputation. Aberdeen Steak house is cheaper, but our personal favourite is Taurus. Taurus is situated on the hill at the back of Los Cristianos. Not just the steaks are great here, they are also famous for their burgers. This restaurant has views looking over the entire town and hosts evening entertainment whilst you eat.

Vegetarian and Vegan

There are few establishment open solely to accommodate vegetarian & vegans. Most restaurants will allow you to substitute meat for vegetables making Los Cristianos very welcoming for Vegetarians. We have only a small handful that I would say are really great to eat at if you are vegan.

Depending on what your are looking for, you could head to La Pepa food market, a huge shared beer garden amongst market stalls selling fresh and cooked food. Here you will find K-Vegan, or if you are looking for more of an evening meal with a great ambience, just a short walk from La Pepa is ECo Eco Brunch & café which has a great following.
